After earning her PhD studying learning and memory in animal models in 2008, she spent over a decade working as a research scientist and award-winning teaching professor. During this course, students will learn some fundamental principles of how the mind and brain work through the lens of psychology and neuroscience. For example, students learn the neuroscience basis of cognitive biases, discrimination, and prejudices. They will also learn about the nature of diversity, the theory of intersectionality, and stress and recovery associated with traumas. Ultimately, all of the learning prepares the students’ brains to think more inclusively, appreciate diversity, and serve as agents of social change.
