The MicroDegree program is a one-on-one mentorship-based program for students who want to work directly with a doctorate-level supervisor (i.e., someone with a Ph.D.) to study a topic of special neuroscience and psychology interest to them. The goal of this workshop is to introduce participants to the value of diversity by first looking at the benefits of diversity in nature with specific examination of neurodiversities (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities), mental illness, and sex & gender diversity.
The brain naturally forms the cognitive biases that lead to unconscious and harmful stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination. Learn about your own cognitive biases and strategies to overcome these biases.

The Psychological Neuroscience course is an introduction to general neuroscience and psychology topics of current relevance including drugs (i.e., Neuropsychopharmacology), mental disorders, neurological disorders, sex & gender, the effects of technology & social media on the brain, and multiple intelligences.
During this course, students will learn some fundamental principles of how the mind and brain work through the lens of psychology and neuroscience. For example, students learn the neuroscience basis of cognitive biases, discrimination, and prejudices. They will also learn about the nature of diversity, the theory of intersectionality, and stress and recovery associated with traumas. Ultimately, all of the learning prepares the students’ brains to think more inclusively, appreciate diversity, and serve as agents of social change.

The book is written in a memoire-style account of various topics including 1) mental health, 2) drug experiences, 3) eating and food, 4) sensitivities and sensory experiences, 5) sexuality and gender, and more. Visit the content store to see selections of chapters.
This certification program is designed for people who work with children (e.g., coaches, teachers, educators, social workers, psychologists, etc.) who want to teach emotional regulation and resiliency to children and their caregivers. In the certification program, program leaders learn skills, tools, and get access to the materials needed to deliver an UnstoppableMe program for children and their caregivers. With the completion of the course, students will be certified by the Centre for Applied Neuroscience to be an Unstoppable Me Program Leader.
Our Learning Model
Online OR In-Person
Both! We’ve been running courses online long before COVID and we’re quite good at it! In fact, we took great pride to replicate our amazing in-person learning space in our virtual learning space when we added a online course back in 2014. We are known for our sense of community both in-person and online. Whichever you choose, we guarantee you’ll enjoy the learning.
Community
People who take our courses are ready to embrace a like-minded community of people who care about understanding and supporting others. Many of courses require an interview process in order to ensure that each student is ready and willing to participate in a respectful manner that moves discussions forward for the good of everyone. As a result, people quickly feel connected to the group and don’t want the courses to end!
Credentials
We offer a few different credentials to honour the learning journey. Some courses are shorter introductions to topics but some others that are longer and more in-depth come with a Certificate. We also offer “MicroDegrees” where students choose their topics of interest and work with a mentor to complete a study project! People love adding credentials from the Centre for Applied Neuroscience to their resumes.
