Neuropsychoidiology Course & Community

Is this a book club? A community? A self-reflective experience? Therapy? Education? Immersive Experience? Yes… it can be all of these things. But think of it as an à-la-carte experience where you get to choose your own engagement.

The course & community involves two tangible elements:

  • exclusive NEW content from Dr. Wintink’s next book-in-progress describing the theory of Neuropsychoidiology (defined below) through personal self-reflection on topics like mental illness (e.g., anxiety, depression), drug experiences (e.g., marijuana, caffeine), motivated behaviours (e.g., eating, sexuality, parenting), and intelligence. This book offers an innovative textbook-like view of psychology and neuroscience through the personal experiences of a neuroscientist and psychologist.

  • (Optional) bi-weekly virtual discussions facilitated by NPI practitioner, Dawn Stevens.

The course is self-guided for those who want to spend solo time self-reflecting on thought-provoking personal-development content, HOWEVER, for those who want to discuss the content and share their own personal experiences around the topics, we offer a bi-weekly discussion group facilitated by Dawn Stevens. There is no commitment after the initial sign up, no homework, and no obligation to participate. Students may come and go as they please. We do require respect for the experiences of all those who do attend and ask that what is shared in the group remains private. We support individual approaches to this curriculum.

Neuropsychoidiology (NPI) is self-awareness approach to personal growth that incorporates general neuroscience and psychology knowledge into a personally understanding of who we are. It was coined in 2003 by Dr. Mandy Wintink and has been used in her university neuroscience courses since 2005, in the CAN Life Coaching Certification Course, and formally introduced in her 2016 book, Self-Science, A Guide to the Mind and Your Brain’s Potential.

For a sample of the content, please visit Dr. Wintink’s site:

What this course offers is exclusive access to a much deeper personal dive into topics that are currently relevant in psychology and neuroscience. Mandy describes this book as “the book I meant to write”. The book has been in preparation for over a decade and is finally being released in this exclusive forum.

The course and content is offered as a 3-month subscription. For the next start date and costs please visit our events page here.

If you are interested in participating, please register by emailing Dawn@canc.ca.

Testimonials

I gained a lot of practical knowledge from the expert and thorough written content and stimulating discussions and also enjoyed the synergy among the group members. Everyone took turns sharing ideas and experiences. I also sensed that people felt comfortable with being authentic and that everyone was genuinely happy to be there - myself included. Dawn did a great job facilitating the conversations and her honesty helped set the tone for valuable dialogue.”

“Reading the unedited version of Mandy’s novel helped me along with my own neuropsychoidiology experience in profound ways. It felt like a guide, teaching me how to understand myself through neuroscience. It helped me feel comfortable enough to tap into some parts of my life experience that I usually try to ignore. I am so appreciative of Mandy’s openness and willingness to share with us her experience in this world. Her ability to share is inspiring and has motivated me to do the same. This has helped me connect with people on the deepest of levels. I appreciated that Mandy and Dawn sent out emails notifying us when new content had been posted. With these notifications it was easy to keep up with the reading. The biweekly discussions helped me feel connected to others who are getting to know themselves as well. The sense of community and acceptance is unmatched. The diversity of our group was amazing. Our group was full of people from all walks of life. Being able to connect with people who are so different (on the surface) from one another was an experience I will never forget. I now feel that I have the ability to connect with others on a deeper level. Dawn, our facilitator, was outstanding. I can’t describe in words the way in which her empathy and understanding has helped me. She was able to accept all views, opinions, experiences and questions and validated each of these. She (and all participants) helped create a safe space. I am so appreciative of this experience and all that it has taught me.”
