POSITIVE THINKING & OPTIMISM

  • Recommended as 1-Day Session, also available as a half-day or 1 hr lunch 'n learn

GENERAL SUMMARY:

“Whether we think we can or think we can’t, we’re right” said Henry Ford. The truth of this statement lies in how we train our brain. We adopt a thinking style because of experiences that we encounter and those experiences literally change our brain. The question is, what thinking style do we want to adopt? Do we want to be positive or negative? Optimistic or Pessimistic? Healthy or Unhealthy. Successful or Unsuccessful? Depressed or Happy? To a large extent each of these ways of existing are within our grasp. What we need to do is become aware of how we thinking now and then choose a way of thinking for the future and then let the practice of positive thinking change us, our life, and our brain!

In this session, you will learn about the neuroscience of failure including why failure feels so uncomfortable (psychologically and physically), why we fear failure, and how failure is actually used by the brain to adjust for the future and promote success. GENERAL SUMMARY:

Mindfulness is the act of paying attention to the present moment as it is. Developing the skill of mindfulness allows a person to become very disciplined in his or her attention, being able to focus for long periods of time, avoid distractions, and ultimate work very productively and efficiently.

Mindfulness has a long history of existence within Eastern Psychology. The goal of mindfulness is not to make someone better at work. In fact, developing mindfulness comes with a host of other mind, body, and spirit benefits. But the practice of mindfulness is, in itself, effective in teaching people the art of focus.

Introducing mindfulness in the workplace can provide a whole host of transferable benefits, not the least of which is heightened focus, attention, efficiency, and productivity.
